A gearbox flush goes further than a standard fluid change.
Where a fluid change drains the sump and replaces what comes out, a flush circulates cleaning additives and new fluid through the entire transmission – including the torque converter, valve body, and cooler lines – removing degraded oil, contaminants, and the fine metallic particles that a drain alone won’t reach. The sump, filter, gasket, and sump bolts are replaced as part of the process, and 100% of the old gearbox oil is exchanged.
Over time, automatic gearbox oil degrades, leading to blockages, slipping gears, and accelerated wear on internal components. A flush restores the system to a clean baseline and keeps the gearbox operating as it should.

It’s also worth knowing that our gearbox service prices are typically a fraction of main dealer rates – often two to three times less – partly because we purchase oils in bulk and pass that saving directly to customers. Other garages may offer a fluid change, but it’s worth checking whether they can carry out a full flush. For a genuinely thorough service, you want the entire system cleaned, not just the sump drained.
Good routine maintenance is always cheaper than repair. Neglecting gearbox oil leads to premature wear, parts failure, and significantly larger bills down the line.
